Fire Prevention and Safety Programs

There are many ways to learn more about the Bowling Green Fire Department and fire safety. Below is a list of the different educational activities that the BGFD offers:

Basic Fire Safety Lesson: We will come to your facility and teach students an age-appropriate lesson about fire safety.  Additionally, a firefighter can dress in their protective gear for the students, plus they’ll get a first-hand look at the fire truck and its equipment.

Basic Fire Safety Lesson & Tour of Station:  This activity is geared toward those that want to visit a fire station. Students will receive an age-appropriate lesson about fire safety, watch a firefighter dress in all their protective gear, take a tour of the fire station and look at fire trucks and its equipment.

Fire Safety Trailer: We can bring our Fire Safety Trailer to your facility or event. This mobile public education center has several digital props in a small kitchen and bedroom with simulated smoke and fire. Attendees learn various methods of extinguishing different types of fire as well as how to safely escape a smoky environment. Lessons taught in the trailer will be tailored to accommodate all age groups but please note that the trailer isn't geared toward smaller children.

Accelerant Detection Canine: We can bring our Accelerant Detection Canine to your school to demonstrate how she and her handler find accelerants at a fire scene. We can also discuss the various careers in the fire service, as well as touch on fire safety. This works especially well for older elementary through high school students.
