Westen Street and Ashley Circle roundabout project enters final phase

Expect a traffic impact at the Westen Street and Ashley Circle roundabout project. This intersection currently operates as a 4-way stop. When the work begins on Monday, it will transition to a modified roundabout with a temporary adjustment over standard roundabout driving procedures.

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - Motorists traveling near the Westen Street and Ashley Circle roundabout project should expect changes Monday, Aug. 28 when work begins on the center island.

This work begins the final phases of roundabout construction and will have a larger traffic impact.

This intersection currently operates as a 4-way stop. When the work begins on Monday, it will transition to a modified roundabout with a temporary adjustment over standard roundabout driving procedures.

Instead of the yield motions of standard roundabouts, traffic will be required to stop and make right turns only in order to navigate through the intersection. This temporary change is for the safety of motorists and pedestrians, as well as the safety of the construction workers while this phase of the project is on-going. Necessary signage and temporary markings will be in place to allow motorists to safely navigate through this area.

Motorists are also encouraged to avoid this area as much as possible while it is under construction.

Additionally, the Westen section of roadway from the Westen/Ashley intersection to the shopping center will be temporarily closed to through traffic (open to local traffic only) until the project is completed. Proper signage and barricades will also be in place for this closure.
