Bowling Green Parks & Recreation (BGPR) is moving forward with two exciting improvement projects at Preston Miller Park as part of the Fiscal Year 2027 (FY27) Capital Improvement Program.
Premier Grounds at Preston Miller Park
The Premier Grounds project will convert two existing soccer fields into synthetic turf fields and add lighting to extend playing opportunities. Contractors have begun staging equipment and materials and completing initial site preparation. Construction is expected to continue over the coming months. During this time, park visitors should anticipate increased construction traffic, equipment activity, and dust in the project area.
New Playground at Preston Miller Park
Preston Miller Park will also receive a new playground featuring modern, inclusive play opportunities for children of varying abilities. The playground will include mulch surfacing, with poured-in-place (PIP) pathways connecting inclusive play features to improve accessibility throughout the play area.
Parks Maintenance has removed the existing playground equipment and the accumulated mulch from the site. Organic material from the removed mulch was repurposed at Lovers Lane Soccer Complex. Completing this work in advance allows the ground to settle before installation of the new playground begins.
The new playground will be located in a slightly different area, shifting away from the waterpark. The site is currently settling and being prepared for installation this spring, with the playground anticipated to be ready before the summer waterpark season.
BGPR is excited to bring these improvements to Preston Miller Park and looks forward to providing the community with enhanced athletic facilities and inclusive recreational opportunities. Stay tuned for additional updates as both projects progress!
