Veterans Day Parade 2014

The Veterans Day Parade will take place Saturday, November 8, at 10:00 a.m. and is expected to feature more than 300 units honoring past, present and future troops of all military branches.

The Bowling Green-Warren County Military Liaison Board announces that they will be honoring WWII Veteran Willard Thomas and Pearl Harbor Survivor William Roberts as the GRAND MARSHALS during the Annual Veterans Day Parade in downtown Bowling Green.

The Veterans Day Parade will take place Saturday, November 8, at 10:00 a.m. and is expected to feature more than 300 units honoring past, present and future troops of all military branches.

November 8 Veterans Day Parade events are scheduled as follows:

Parade starts at 6th & College Street (near Circus Square) at 10:00 a.m. and ends near Circus Square at 6th & State Street.  From College Street, the route will turn left onto 10th Avenue, left onto State Street, and ending at 6th & State Street.
Flag-raising ceremony:  Remarks from Commander Roger Miller, on behalf of the WWII Veteran Grand Marshals.  Student Essay winner Caroline Key will read her essay on “Why Do Americans have the Freedom’s they enjoy?”, and remarks from Judge Executive Buchanon will immediately follow at Warren County Courthouse Veterans Memorial Courtyard, 429 E. 10th Avenue.
The Veterans Parade student essay winner will be awarded $100 from the American Legion and VFW Ladies’ Auxiliary.  Student essays were solicited from 4th & 5th grade classes from the  Bowling Green and Warren County Schools.

Other parade entries will include the 202nd Kentucky National Guard Military Band from Ft. Knox, KY.  “Vets in Vettes” by the National Corvette Museum, the Bowling Green-Warren County All-Star Band featuring members of all local high schools and WKU’s Big Red.
