Track & Field Competition

Summary: Join Bowling Green Parks and Recreation on Thursday, July 28th, at Bowling Green High School's EL Donaldson Stadium Track for a free Track & Field Competition. This event is open to boys and girls aged 9-14 years. Events will be held for youths 7 & 8 years as well.

CrossWinds Golf Course Open House

Summary: Bowling Green Parks and Recreation would like to invite you to stop by the pro shop and patio at CrossWinds Golf Course on Monday, July 25 from 4:00-6:00pm to talk to staff about two of the lakes (holes #2 and #9) that serve as drainage facilities for the neighborhood in addition to being challenging amenities for the course itself.

#BGGovToGo Block Party on Circle Avenue

Summary: The City of Bowling Green will launch its new #BGGovToGo initiative with a neighborhood block party on Circle Avenue, Monday, July 18 from 6:00-8:00 p.m.

Youth T-Ball/Coach Pitch Registration

Summary: Fall 2016 youth t-ball and coach pitch registration will be held on July 20, July 21 and July 22 from 3:30-6:00pm at BGPR, 225 E. Third Ave. Boys & Girls T-Ball (4-6 years) is $45, Boys Coach Pitch (6-8 years) is $50, and Girls Coach Pitch (6-9 years) is $50. Age is based as of September 1, 2016.

City to recognize nearly 80 New American Citizens

Summary: The City of Bowling Green will host a reception to recognize individuals who have become naturalized United States Citizens in 2015 and 2016. Nearly 80 new Citizens have been invited to this recognition taking place on Tuesday, July 12 at 6:00pm at the Sloan Convention Center in Bowling Green, KY.

Bike Safety Day Moved

Summary: Bike Safety Day at Parker-Bennett Community Center has been changed from Friday, July 15, 2016 to Thursday, July 14, 2016. The event time will stay the same; 1:00-3:00pm. This is a FREE event for ages 5-13 years.

Bowling Green Receives Award for Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Financial Reporting

Summary: The Award for Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Financial Reporting (PAFR) has been presented to the City of Bowling Green by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for its PAFR for the Fiscal Year end June 30, 2015.

Soccer Field Closings

Summary: West End Soccer Field and Lovers Lane Soccer Complex Fields 7 and 8 will be closed from July 11 through July 17 (reopening on July 18). Bowling Green Parks and Recreation staff will be conducting routine maintenance and repairs in preparation for a busy season for late summer/fall use.

Summer Golf Programs

Summary: Bowling Green Parks and Recreation will be offering youth and adult golf programs throughout July and August. These programs will include Youth Golf Academy, Youth Golf Clinic, Adult Golf Lessons, and Youth Summer Golf Camp.

City of Bowling Green Citizen Survey

Summary: Every two years, the City of Bowling Green takes the time to participate in the International City/County Management Association (ICMA) and National Research Center (NRC) National Citizen Survey (NCS). This survey is a low-cost citizen survey service for local governments.

Academy for New Americans to Graduate 17 Participants

Summary: The City of Bowling Green will host a graduation ceremony on Thursday, June 23rd at 6:30pm for the 17 participants from its inaugural Academy for New Americans. The graduation reception will be held at the Sloan Convention Center

Lampkin Park Playground

Summary: The Bowling Green Parks and Recreation is excited to announce improvements and an addition to Lampkin Park. The playground area will be closed from June 23rd thru June 30th, weather permitting. We hope the community will enjoy our improvements to Lampkin Park when this project is complete.

Fireworks Rules & Safety Tips

2nd Annual Girls Junior Championships

Summary: The 2nd Annual Girls Junior Championships will be held at Paul Walker Golf Course on July 1, 2016. There will be a shotgun start at 8:00 am. Prizes will be awarded for each age division and lunch will be served. The registration deadline is June 30, 2016 and registration is FREE!

52nd Annual Boys Junior Championships

Summary: The 52nd Annual Boys Junior Championships will be held at Paul Walker Golf Course on June 29 & June 30, 2016. There will be a shotgun start at 8:00 am on June 29th. Prizes will be awarded for each age division and lunch will be served on the 29th. The registration fee is $5 per child!

"All About SNAP" Neighborhood University Session Is Last Chance To Meet Eligibility for Grants

"Zoning 101" Neighborhood University Session

Summary: This June 6 session is next in a series of Neighborhood University trainings. This session fulfills the training eligibility requirement for the City's SNAP Grant program but is free and open to anyone.

BGPR Youth Track Meet

Summary: The BGPR Youth Track Meet will take place on June 2, 2016 beginning at 9:30am at the BGHS Track. Let your child demonstrate their 50M, Long Jump, and Softball Throw. This event is free of charge.

2016 Paul Walker Memorial

May 25, 2016

Summary: This June 4th and 5th tournament is open to the public and limited to the first 100 players. The entry fee is $100 for non-members and $90 for members of Paul Walker and Riverview Golf Courses. Two rounds of great golf with riding carts and lunch. The 36 hole, medal play will begin with a shotgun start at 7:00am and 1:00pm on both Saturday and Sunday. Limited to the first 100 PAID entries!

Foot Golf Course

Summary: Come check out the new Foot Golf course at The Golf Course at Riverview. The course will be open on Fridays, May 27th thru July 29th, June 12, June 19, and Sundays, July 10th thru July 31st beginning at 5:30 pm.

"How To Advocate Effectively for Your Neighborhood" Neighborhood University Session

Opening Day for Russell Sims Aquatic Center *POSTPONED*

Summary: With the recent spell of cold weather, water temperatures at Russell Sims Aquatic Center remain in the mid 60’s, which is far too cold for safe swimming. Bowling Green Parks and Recreation has made the decision to postpone opening day to Monday, May 23, 2016. We will continue to monitor conditions and provide updates as available.

Paul Walker Memorial

Summary: The Paul Walker Memorial will be held on June 4th and 5th at Paul Walker Golf Course. This event is limited to the first 100 PAID entries.

New Neighbor Series: Africa
