Arbor Day 2015

Summary: Spring is finally here! If you need a new tree for your yard come to the City’s Arbor Day Celebration Saturday April 18th at Kereiakes Park from 9:00 am-Noon to get a FREE seedling tree! This year we will have Flowering Dogwood, Sassafras, Bald Cypress, Black gum, Hickory, Tulip Poplar, and Wild Plum. See you there!

Tree Removal at Collett Lane

Summary: Eleven trees are scheduled for removal by BGMU next week. The trees have structural defects and fungal canker and are leaning towards power lines. The location of the trees is Collett Lane next to Fairview Cemetery and the Greenways trail.

Public Workshop

Summary: Bowling Green Parks and Recreation will host a Public Workshop on Thursday, April 16, 2015 at Bowling Green Junior High School beginning at 7:00 pm.

City of Bowling Green to Hold Online Auction

Lights at Kereiakes Tennis Court Complex

Summary: The Bowling Green Parks and Recreation Department would like to announce that effective March 17, 2015 the lights at the Kereiakes Tennis Court Complex will resume the use of Player-control push button lights (no longer on timer system).

2015 Pre-Spring Volleyball and Spring Madness

PBCC Spring Break Camp Registration

Summary: Parker-Bennett Community Center Spring Break Camp registration begins now and will continue until full. Camp is $5 per child and includes a field trip. Snacks will be provided, but children should bring their lunch. This camp is for ages 5-13 years old.

Kids Knead a Little Dough Registration

Summary: Spend the day learning to bake bread, while we clean up the mess! You'll go home with a loaf of bread you made yourself and the skills to recreate it at home. All supplies provided. Space is limited to 12.

Check Smoke Detector Batteries Once a Month

Change Your Clock/Change Your Battery

Summary: When we change our clocks from standard time to daylight savings time on Sunday, March 8, that’s also a perfect time to change the batteries in your smoke detectors.

City of BG Fitness Center Temporary Location to Open 2/28

Summary: The City of Bowling Green Fitness Center will partially re-open on Saturday, February 28th from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. after temporarily closing this past week due to roof issues from the winter storm.

Spring Break Camp Registration at F.O. Moxley Community Center

City of BG Achieves "Certified City of Ethics" Distinction

Summary: The City of Bowling Green recently received the “Certified City of Ethics” designation. This voluntary program, developed by the Kentucky League of Cities (KLC), encourages cities to adopt and adhere to a set of key ethical principles and a comprehensive model ethics ordinance.

Over 50 Citizen's Academy Spots Filling Up, One Week Still Left To Apply

2015 Spring Adult Softball

2015 Community Gardens

Summary: The 2015 Community Gardens Application form is now on our website along with a map of the garden plots for this year. The plots will be available for rental beginning March 17, 2015 at 8:30 AM.

2015 Annual Cemetery Spring Clean-Up

Summary: Cemetery staff will be conducting their annual spring cleanup beginning March 16, 2015. The cleanup will include decorations, flowers, statuary, plaques, etc. that are on the ground; this includes items that will get in the way of mowers.

PBCC Valentine's Day Party

Summary: Parker-Bennett Community Center will be having a Valentine's Day Party on February 17th from 7:00-9:00 pm. The party is a free event for 8-13 year olds. Come get your hearts filled with treats, games, prizes, and fun!

F.O. Moxley "Bee" Our Valentine Party

Summary: F.O. Moxley Community Center will be having a "Bee" Our Valentine Party on February 13th from 4:00-5:30 pm. The party is a free event for 5-13 year olds. Come enjoy crafts, games, and food. All you need is love to show the way.

Citizen Academies Offer Behind the Scenes Look at Police and City Operations

Tree Removals at Lovers Lane Soccer Complex and Reservoir Hill

Summary: A dead White Pine is scheduled to be removed at the Lovers Lane Soccer Complex. Three Ash Trees are scheduled for removal at Reservoir Hill. The trees are scheduled to be removed this month.

Parks and Rec Master Plan Public Workshop

Summary: The City of Bowling Green Parks and Recreation Department has begun the process of preparing a master plan to improve the parks and recreation system throughout our City. Public participation and interaction is essential for this master plan development. A public workshop will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday, February 9 at Bowling Green Jr. High School.

BGCAN Winter Rally of the Neighborhoods Set For Tomorrow Night

Summary: Bowling Green Coalition of Active Neighborhoods (BGCAN) will kick off their first Rally of the Neighborhoods of the new year tomorrow night, January 29 at Bowling Green Parks & Recreation, 225 E. 3rd Avenue. The event will start with a beans and cornbread supper at 6:00 p.m., with the program scheduled to begin at 6:30.
