City recognizes New American Citizens

Summary: The City of Bowling Green will host a reception on May 12 at 6:00pm at the Commission Chamber in Bowling Green City Hall to recognize those individuals who have recently become naturalized United States Citizens.

F.O. Moxley's Cinco de Mayo Celebration

Summary: F.O. Moxley Community Center will host a Cinco de Mayo celebration today, May 5th, from 4:00-5:30 pm. This is a free event for ages 5-13 years.

Parker-Bennett Community Center Community Yard Sale

Summary: Parker-Bennett Community Center will host a Community Yard Sale on Saturday, May 9th from 8am-12pm. The cost is $12 per table and registration for a table is required by May 7th.

Special Olympic Softball Coaches Needed

Summary: Special Populations is looking for people to volunteer as a coach for Special Olympic Softball. Volunteers must be 18 years or older. Practices will be held Fridays from 5-7pm and Sundays from 4-6pm at Lampkin Park.

Youth Golf Academy

Summary: Youth Golf Academy will allow for interested youth ages 8-15 years to attend a weekly night of golf instruction and play. Classes will begin May 11 and continue thru August 10. Classes meet each Monday, weather permitting and excluding holidays.

Parks and Recreation to Accept Donation for West End Park

Summary: The City of Bowling Green Parks and Recreation Department will accept a donation in the amount of $11,000 from Independence Bank for assistance in the development of the West End Park.

New Application, Guidelines for SNAP Grant Program Now Available

Camp Good Times Registration

Summary: Parker-Bennett Community Center will begin accepting registrations for their summer camp, "Camp Good Times", on Monday, April 27th at 9 am. Space is limited to the first 75 PAID campers. A June and July session will be offered and are $25 each. Call (270) 393-3691 for more information.

May is Building Safety Month

Tree Removal and Tree Pruning

Summary: A Hackberry tree in Roland Bland Park near the playground will be scheduled for removal by a contractor this month. The tree has extensive trunk decay due to damage. Hazard tree pruning at Preston Miller Greenways Trail is also scheduled for this month.

Chestnut Street Lane Closure

Summary: Chestnut Street will have the South West lane closed to through traffic from 3rd Avenue to Short Street April 20th through April 24th.

City of Bowling Green to Hold Online Auction

Arbor Day 2015

Summer Tennis Camp

Summary: A two-week fun camp designed to introduce the game of tennis to kids. Focus will be on the basics of tennis play, with fast paced interactive games integrated into instruction. This tennis camp will be for ages 6-11, 12-16, and adults.

Arbor Day 2015

Summary: Spring is finally here! If you need a new tree for your yard come to the City’s Arbor Day Celebration Saturday April 18th at Kereiakes Park from 9:00 am-Noon to get a FREE seedling tree! This year we will have Flowering Dogwood, Sassafras, Bald Cypress, Black gum, Hickory, Tulip Poplar, and Wild Plum. See you there!

Tree Removal at Collett Lane

Summary: Eleven trees are scheduled for removal by BGMU next week. The trees have structural defects and fungal canker and are leaning towards power lines. The location of the trees is Collett Lane next to Fairview Cemetery and the Greenways trail.
