Modern Way Closing

Summary: Modern Way will be closed to through traffic on Monday, October 3rd, 2016 through Tuesday October 4th. The closure will be due to drainage improvements. All properties will be accessible from either Nashville Road via Industrial Drive or from Dishman Lane.

Coats For Kids 2016

Summary: This year's Coats for Kids event will take place from October 1st - December 1st. Gently used coats can be donated at the Bowling Green Police Department and many other locations.

Neighborhood Group to Host Candidates Forum

Summary: Bowling Green Coalition of Active Neighborhoods (BGCAN) will host a candidates forum at the Sloan Convention Center tomorrow night, Sept. 27. The event begins with networking at 6:00 p.m., with the forum from 6:30-8:30 p.m.

Youth Basketball Registration

Summary: Registration for Youth Basketball Leagues will be held on October 5-6 and October 8 at Bowling Green Parks and Recreation, 225 E. Third Ave., Bowling Green, KY 42101. Registration will also be held October 8-9 at Dick's Sporting Goods, 2300 Gary Farms Blvd., Bowling Green, KY.

#BGGovToGo at West End Park for Free Outdoor Movie Tonight

Summary: #BGGovToGo will be at West End Park at 517 W. Main Avenue tonight, September 16 for a free outdoor movie night hosted by Independence Bank. Fun and games will begin at 6:30, and the movie "Monsters University" will start at dusk.

Covington Cemetery Goats

Summary: The Covington Cemetery, located on Lois Lane, will be having goats delivered next week. The goats will browse until palatable vegetation has occurred (approximately 8 weeks).

Covington Street Tree Removal

Summary: The City of Bowling Green Public Works Department will be removing a dead tree at 933 Covington Street on Wednesday September 14, 2016 from approximately 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. The tree is a hazard to motorists and pedestrians.

BGCAN Fall Rally & Candidates Forum

Summary: BGCAN will host its Fall Rally of the Neighborhoods and City Commissioner Candidates Forum on neighborhood concerns at the Sloan Convention Center on Tuesday evening, Sept. 27.

Longest Day of Golf

Summary: The Longest Day of Golf will be held on Sunday, September 18. 18 holes will be played at Paul Walker Golf Course and will be followed by 9 holes at The Golf Course at RiverView in a 4-person scramble format. The team entry fee is $120.*

City Commissioner Candidates Forum hosted by the City's International Communities Advisory Council

Bowling Green Fire Department now offering Heartsaver First Aid/CPR/AED Training

Summary: The Bowling Green Fire Department is now offering Heartsaver First aid/CPR/AED certification training for civilians. Classes are taught by certified American Heart Association instructors from the fire department.

Biddy Ball Basketball Registration

Summary: Not old enough or big enough to play? This league is just for you. Youth ages 3-5 years old can learn the basic fundamentals of basketball and have fun playing weekly games against each other. Teams will fill up fast - 8 children per team. Pre-registration is required. Space is limited.

City of Bowling Green to Remove Tree

Summary: Due to a lopsided crown, thinning foliage and a significant lean towards College Street, a Red Oak Tree located in the utility strip near the corner of 10th and College Streets will be removed on Saturday, August 20th.

Summary: The City of Bowling Green received a complaint regarding the Bowling Green Fire Department in April of 2016. With this complaint, the City also received a video of a now former Bowling Green Firefighter burning the Quran.

Bent Tree Avenue Road Closing

CrossWinds Golf Course Open House

Summary: Bowling Green Parks and Recreation would like to invite you to stop by the pro shop and patio at CrossWinds Golf Course on Monday, July 25 from 4:00-6:00pm to talk to staff about two of the lakes (holes #2 and #9) that serve as drainage facilities for the neighborhood in addition to being challenging amenities for the course itself.

Youth T-Ball/Coach Pitch Registration

Summary: Fall 2016 youth t-ball and coach pitch registration will be held on July 20, July 21 and July 22 from 3:30-6:00pm at BGPR, 225 E. Third Ave. Boys & Girls T-Ball (4-6 years) is $45, Boys Coach Pitch (6-8 years) is $50, and Girls Coach Pitch (6-9 years) is $50. Age is based as of September 1, 2016.

City to recognize nearly 80 New American Citizens

Summary: The City of Bowling Green will host a reception to recognize individuals who have become naturalized United States Citizens in 2015 and 2016. Nearly 80 new Citizens have been invited to this recognition taking place on Tuesday, July 12 at 6:00pm at the Sloan Convention Center in Bowling Green, KY.
