Sinkhole Closes Cambridge Drive at Grinstead Way for Extended Repairs

BOWLING GREEN. Ky. - A section of Cambridge Drive at Grinstead Way is closed after a sizable sinkhole opened up, a not-uncommon occurrence in this karst-prone region.

The closure, which began today, is expected to last about 30 days as crews work to repair the damage and stabilize the area.

While sinkholes are a known part of life in south-central Kentucky, this one is larger than typical roadway issues and will require extensive work before the street can safely reopen.

Drivers are advised to seek alternate routes during the closure. While the situation is inconvenient, it serves as a reminder that in a region defined by underground limestone, the ground can occasionally — and unexpectedly — give way.

Drivers are encouraged to exercise caution in this area.
