Up to $6,000 in Funds Now Available for Neighborhood Projects

The Spring Cycle of Bowling Green’s neighborhood grant program—now called Strategic Neighborhood Grant Funds—with $30,000 available for community-driven projects in 2026. Applications for Spring funding are open now through February 1, so rally your neighbors and bring your ideas to life.

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - The City of Bowling Green's neighborhood grant program got a facelift last year!  Formerly known as Flexible Neighborhood Grant, which had been initially launched in 1999 as the Select Neighborhood Action Program, is now being renamed the Strategic Neighborhood Grant Funds.  This 2026 fiscal year grant cycle made $60,000 in funds available to projects for neighborhood initiatives, funds have been divided into two equal cycles for Fall and Spring neighborhood projects.  

The Strategic Neighborhood Grant Funds (SNGF) launched its Fall cycle on July 1, 2025.  The Community Engagement Division received nineteen applications for this cycle totaling $96,323 in requests. The review committee met and made recommendations to fund 10 grants totaling $40,176 in funds, using $30,000 allocated for the Fall cycle and $10,176 in funds carried forward from previous years.  The Board of Commissioners approved these grants during its Sept. 2 meeting: 
  
Northern Heights Neighborhood: $3,500
Cumberland Ridge Neighborhood: $6,000
College Hill Neighborhood: $6,000
Chenoweth Circle Neighborhood: $4,050.64
Mt. Zion Back-to-School Program: $6,000
Eaglestone Neighborhood: $2,623.50
Shake Rag Festival: $1,000
Hunting Creek Neighborhood: $3,000
Roselawn Way Neighborhood Watch Group: $6,000
Delafield Neighborhood: $2,002

How to apply for funds:

The Spring Grant Cycle is now open and we are receiving new applications beginning Jan. 1 thru Feb. 1, 2026
There are many ways to apply for the Strategic Neighborhood Grant Funds, choose your preferred method and get started today:

  1. Applications are available online via:  https://www.bgky.org/neighborhoods/grant 
  2. Complete applications three ways:  (1) online fillable form, (2) fillable and downloadable PDF or (3) print paper form available at our offices
  3. Submit your completed application via email at neighborhoods@bgky.org or drop off at Neighborhood and Community Services located at 707 E. Main Avenue in the lower level reception area, Monday thru Friday from 8am - 4pm
