Time: 6:00pm - 6:30pm

Location: Varied Locations including National Corvette Museum Motorsports Park, WKU's University Boulevard Parking Lot near the Roundabout

Description:

All are invited to participate in a community-wide light vigil along and near the tornado paths by gathering together with candles, luminary bags, spotlights, bucket lights, etc. and directing white light skyward, beginning by 6:11 pm, for a period of at least 17 minutes. This start time is approximately one year and 17 hours from the time the tornado started its trek across Warren County. There were 17 deaths attributed to these tornadoes in our community alone. If attending the event at the Motorsports Park, be sure to allow plenty of time to get into the park, park and get into position along the outline of Kentucky

The “Light the Path: 6:11 on 12/11” vigil is to REMEMBER all we have lost, including seventeen souls who died, to REFLECT on the strength and resiliency of our community in the face of devastation and adversity, and to RESOLVE to continue the work of recovery and restoration as we move forward. A limited number of luminary bag kits will be distributed at the Day of Giving event at Preston Miller Park on December 10.

Many City departments and elected officials are expected to participate in the light vigil at various locations. It is possible a quorum of the Board of Commissioners could be briefly present at a location but no formal action will take place.
