BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Bowling Green Police Chief Michael Delaney has been named the 2026 Police Chief of the Year by the Kentucky Association of Chiefs of Police.
Delaney received the statewide honor during the association’s annual conference in Lexington. The recognition came as a complete surprise to Delaney, who did not know he had been selected until his name was announced during the conference.
The award recognizes Delaney’s leadership and commitment to law enforcement, the Bowling Green Police Department and the community it serves.
Since becoming chief of the Bowling Green Police Department in 2020, Delaney has emphasized community engagement, relationship building and trust while leading the department’s officers and staff in serving a growing and diverse community.
His leadership can be seen through the department’s continued efforts to strengthen relationships with residents, expand community outreach and create opportunities for officers and community members to connect beyond traditional law enforcement interactions.
The 2026 Police Chief of the Year recognition reflects an impact that extends beyond Bowling Green, honoring Delaney among law enforcement leaders from across the Commonwealth.
