In August, 2000, Bowling Green and its Sister City, Kawanishi,
Japan began a Sister Library Project. This project will
allow libraries in each city to exchange books.
Warren County Public Library and
Western
Kentucky University’s Library will partner to provide
books on Bowling Green and Kentucky to Kawanishi. Likewise,
Kawanishi’s public library will send books related
to Kawanishi and Japan to Bowling Green. The exchange should
allow individuals in each community to learn more about
the other. Libraries on both sides will benefit by acquiring
books that otherwise would not be easily accessible. The
Sister Library Project represents yet another step in the
deepening friendship between Bowling Green and Kawanishi.
