Scott Waste Management
Phone Number:(270) 783-4016

Garbage bagsScott Waste Management is the exclusive solid waste hauler for household solid waste in all parts of Bowling Green. Residents pay monthly $16.15 for "behind-the-house" collection. Senior citizens and disabled customers pay $15.15 monthly. Charges will appear on the monthly Bowling Green Municipal Utilities bill where BGMU provides water, electric or sewer service. Others may be billed directly. To establish service call (270) 783-4016

Up to three garbage containers weighing up to 75 lbs will be collected each week. All containers must have tightly fitting lids and be accessible at all
times. Any amount of waste above the three cans or weight limits is considered "bulk waste" and must be placed at the curb (or alley if specified) for collection. Items should be broken down into containers as much as possible.

Yard waste that the resident wishes to be composted, including brush, tree limbs and clippings, must be separated from all other solid waste and must be placed at the curb (or alley if specified) for collection. Qualifying yard waste must also meet the following conditions: Yard waste must be clearly identifiable by storing in clear plastic bags or double-thick brown
paper bags. Brush, limbs and other wood waste must not exceed five feet in length and no more than 6-inches in diameter and must be bundled for collection using grass or cotton strings. Yard waste and bulk waste not meeting collection standards may be left with an explanation of why the waste was not collected.

Appliances, or "white goods" will be collected if left at the curb or alley (if specified). All refrigerated appliances, including window air conditioners, refrigerators, freezers, etc., must be cleared of spoiled contents and must be evacuated of refrigerant gas, commonly known as "freon." All refrigerated appliances must certified by a professional that the device has been evacuated of refrigerant. Certification may be obtained by contacting a refrigerator repair person or arranged through the solid waste hauler. Obtaining the certification is not included in the household's monthly solid waste subscription.

Commerical rental properties that are residential in nature, including single and multi-family units, may subscribe to household collection services per unit and may receive the services provided for in all residential franchise agreements. However, if a commerical property owner elects to have commercial collection at the residence, the household may not
be eligible for collection of yard waste, bulk items and white goods. Only solid waste placed in the provided container may qualify for commercial collection. This practice may vary from hauler to hauler, however. A residential unit paying the single rate for collection services and receiving the bill at the address where the service is located may not
choose commercial collection services in lieu of residential collection services.

Households failing to establish collection services may face civil and/or criminal charges.
