MAYOR’S BIKE RIDE
Bowling Green, KY – On Saturday, September 20, 2008 Mayor Elaine Walker will lead the first-ever Mayor’s Bike Ride through the City of Bowling Green. The ride will start at Kereiakes Park at 10 a.m.
This approximately hour-long free ride will travel through City neighborhoods on low traffic streets and is perfect for families, children and people of all ages and skill levels. The Mayor will be joined by experienced volunteers from Bicycle Bowling Green.
"They say you never forget how to ride a bike, and I'm living proof of that,” said Mayor Elaine Walker. “I'm looking forward to the opportunity to join with many of our citizens of all ages for a scenic bike ride through our community and hope you can join me. What a great way to enjoy our beautiful city, meet old and new friends, and work off a few calories in the process!”
Helmets will be required for all riders.
“Bike riding is a fun activity for the whole family to enjoy,” Said Sara Shipley Hiles, President of Bicycle Bowling Green. “We hope this event will encourage people to get out and get active.”
The Bowling Green Mayor’s Bike Ride is modeled after Louisville’s tremendously popular Mayor’s Hike and Bike events, which draw thousands of people.
