Bowling Green and Warren County participate in the Federal Emergency Management Administration (FEMA) Community Rating System (CRS). As a result of this participation, several key drainage related issues are evaluated for an overall rating. Some of these issues include: regulatory framework, compliant tracking, operation and maintenance efforts, and other items. FEMA flood maps have also been developed for the purpose of showing flood prone areas as well as prohibiting construction within designated flood zones. By performing a series of activities, the City of Bowling Green and Warren County have maintained a rating of 8 since October 1, 1992, which lowers flood insurance premiums by 10 percent.
