Duties Of Position: Leads in the maintenance of landscaped areas, including watering, weeding, mowing, pruning, and fertilizing. Operates greenhouse, including planting, watering, fertilizing, spraying with pesticides, and transplanting vegetation. Operates various tools and equipment such as small gardening tools, lawn mowers, tractors, trucks, rake, garden tiller, or shovel in compliance with departmental safety regulations. Assists in the landscape designing of City property, and the planting of trees, plants, and flowers; plans, organizes, and purchases plant materials and supplies. Serves as lead worker with assigned personnel and maintains record of hours worked. Performs clerical tasks such as completing work orders, maintaining logs/records, and preparing routine reports.
Job Requirements: High School diploma, GED, or vocational school, with one year of grounds keeping/landscape experience (or related) required; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position. Requires valid Driverâ€™s License and ability to obtain Pesticide Applicatorâ€™s License within the first 12 months.
Starting Salary: Pay Grade 110; Starting Salary $25,713/yr. ($12.36/hr), plus a full benefit package.Work Hours: 7:00 am - 3:30 pm Monday through Friday, with occasional overtime expected.
