About the Department
The Department of Human Resources and Risk Management has four primary programs: human resources management; benefits and employee wellness; safety and risk management; and employee development. The Department of Human Resources and Risk Management is the one of City's smallest departments. A management study was conducted when the classification/pay study was completed in 1994, which resulted in formalizing a separate department called Human Resources. In 1998 the department name was changed to Department of Human Resources and Risk Management to emphasize the importance of the risk management function.
The department relocated to the renovated ground floor of City Hall in January 1999, providing offices and a training room totaling 3000 square feet.
