Westside - Station 4 - Fire Districts

Boundaries: This area is bordered by the Old Barren River Road and W 12th Street to the north, Veterans Memorial and Morgantown Road to the west, William Natcher Parkway / Russellville Road to the south and Newman Way / Cabell Drive to the east.

Demographics: This area is predominately residential in nature with commercial areas included. The zone includes Western Kentucky University educational and dormitory buildings. The residential areas include a large number of multifamily units.

Fire Risk: The typical fire risk is the residential units located within this zone as most commercial structures are protected with sprinkler systems and fire alarm systems. The residential units are typically 1,000 to 2,500 square foot homes of wood frame construction. The multi-family units are typically 8 to 12 unit structures also of wood frame construction.

Non-Fire Risk: The non-fire risk for this zone is predominately emergency medical calls at 47% of the call volume for this zone.

Incident History:
Three years of response data indicates the call volume to this zone is 1,759 of 8,377 incidents representing approximately 21% of the total call volume. Of the 1,759 incidents, 47% were emergency medical calls, 15% were fire incidents and 38% were other calls including service calls, fire alarms and rescue calls.

Water Supply: Water for fire suppression is provided with municipal fire hydrants located approximately 500 feet apart.
