Stolen Drainage Grates
Crime Stoppers needs your help. The drainage grate thieves are at it again. Bowling Green Police need your help in locating the thieves who are stealing the large metal grates from the streets that allow drainage for water run-off. Some of the areas they have been stolen from are 3rd Street; Fields and Navajo; Eastwood;, Dorchester; and Old Towne at Mt. Victor Lane. The average weight of these grates is over 100 pounds and will take more than one person to steal. Not only does this cost the taxpayers money but is a serious safety concern to pedestrians, bicyclists and automobile drivers. The estimated loss of these stolen grates is thousands of dollars although they will only bring pennies when recycled. Stealing these is a lot of work, but offers very little reward for the thieves. Let us reward you for your information.
