Fire Equipment Theft

Crime Stoppers needs your help. Bowling Green Police are investigating a theft from a volunteer firefighter’s vehicle.  On Saturday night, June 19, 2010 an Alvaton Volunteer Firefighter parked his black Dodge pick-up in the parking lot of Simply Mulch near the IGA on Scottsville Road.  Someone tried to break into the truck but instead stole fire fighting equipment from the toolbox.  A helmet, jacket, boots, gloves, pants and Nomex hood were taken from the vehicle.  The jacket and helmet are identifiable with “ALVATON” and the name “M. HELMS”.  The stolen gear is valued at $4800 and takes several weeks to replace.  This volunteer firefighter is unable to response to emergencies till his replacement gear arrives.
