City of BG Sidewalks

Sidewalks in the City of Bowling Green provide many benefits for our residents including safety, mobility, and healthier communities. In addition, sidewalks are proven to provide opportunities for walking, access to busses and to increase real estate.

The Board of Commissioners approves approximately $400,000 to $500,000 annually, allowing construction of approximately 1 mile of new sidewalk each year. All requests for new sidewalks are ranked based on a number of criteria including but not limited the ability to connect to existing sidewalks, project sponsorship, grant of easement, conformance with planned transformation improvements and more.

The City of Bowling Green New Sidewalk Program, requested locations, and detailed information on how sidewalks are ranked can be found online at www.bgky.org/publicworks/new-sidewalk-program.

The online table shows locations that have received funding and are currently under construction or in design. Additional information is available on requested locations, and how to request a sidewalk.

The number of projects chosen in a given year is always dependent upon available funding and all new sidewalk construction is in addition to sidewalk repairs.
