It’s not unusual for there to be traffic and congestion on Smallhouse Road during morning and afternoon rush hour traffic. One of the main focuses of the Bowling Green Public Works Department has been working on a plan to widen Smallhouse Road.

The City of Bowling Green will be hosting a public meeting on Tuesday, September 22nd from 4:30 to 7 p.m. at Living Hope Baptist Church regarding the Smallhouse Road widening project. Letters have been mailed to affected property owners but all residents are invited to attend. If you travel Smallhouse Road with any regularity we invite you to come and view the plans and stay to ask questions.

Smallhouse Road will be widened to a three-lane roadway from Campbell Lane to Highland Drive as well as the instillation of curb and gutter and a multi-use sidewalk. This will allow for a turning lane to help alleviate traffic and congestion in that area.

Acquisition of property is expected to begin immediately and construction is slated to begin in spring of 2016. The overall construction of the project will take approximately 9 months.

Bowling Green Public Works staff will be on site to answer questions and attendees can view the proposed design which will provide details of the plan and construction. Those who attend should enter through Door I and signs will be posted to direct people to the meeting room. Living Hope Baptist Church is located at 1805 Westen Street.
