Senior Programs:
The Special Populations program provides various activities for Senior Citizens. We are always looking for new program ideas. If you are a Senior Citizen and would like a listing of our programs or if you have some program ideas, please give us a call. We would love to talk with you.

The following programs are specifically designed to meet the needs of individuals with a mental and/or physical challenge:

Area 5 Special Olympics:
Area 5 Special Olympics is a twenty-county region surrounding Bowling Green. Area 5 Special Olympics is dedicated to providing the following quality events: Area 5 Bowling Tournament, Special Olympics Kentucky Regional Softball Tournament, Special Olympics Kentucky Regional Basketball Tournament, Area 5 Power lifting Tournament, and Area 5 Spring Games. Any person who wishes to volunteer or with a mental challenge that wishes to participate in Special Olympics should contact Special Populations for more information. Volunteers are always needed. For more information on Special Olympics, visit their website at www.soky.org.

Bowling Green Adult Athletic Club:
The B.G.A.A.C. is for any person with a mental challenge. The club competes and trains for the following Special Olympic Events: Area 5 Bowling, State Bowling, Unified Bowling, Area 5 Spring Games, State Summer Games, State Power lifting Tournament, State Softball Tournament, and State Basketball/Cheerleading Competition. A monthly newsletter is printed to inform athletes and volunteers about upcoming events. Social activities include: picnics, dances, field trips, movies, etc. Persons with a mental challenge or persons that have an interest in volunteering should contact Special Populations for more information.

Volunteers Needed:
The Special Populations program is always in need of volunteers. Volunteer opportunities exist through our many programs and special events. If you or your group would like to make a difference in our community, then please contact Special Populations.

Special Olympics :
Bowling Green Special Olympics is proud to announce their female basketball team will
represent Team USA in the 2007 World Games! All donations are tax deductible.

SENIOR DANCE

One day per month, area long-term facilities are invited to get together for a dance.
DATE: Monthly
TIME: Begins at 10:00am
FEE: FREE

SENIOR MOVIE DAY

One day per month, area long-term facilities are invited to get together for movie and popcorn.
DATE: Monthly
TIME: Begins at 10:00am
FEE: FREE
LOCATION: Kummer/Little Recreation Center

SPECIAL OLYMPICS BOWLING PRACTICE

Sign-Ups and first practice will be at Southern Lanes on August 13, 2008 at 2:30 pm.
DAY: Practices will be every Wednesday
TIME: 2:30 pm
LOCATION: Southern Lanes, Scottsville Rd.

CAMP HAPPY DAYS 2008 “ON THE ROAD AGAIN”

A free summer camp for any child with mental and/or physical challenges. The camp will feature games, arts and crafts, field trips, special events, and many more fun activities.
*Pre-registration is required. No late registration will be accepted. Deadline for registration is May 18, 2008 or until all slots are filled.
Session I: June 5th-24th
Session II: July 7th-24th
DAYS: Weekdays (Monday - Friday)
TIME: Sign in: 8:00-9:00am
Sign out: 2:30-3:00pm
AGES: 6 years and up
FEE: Free to participants with mental, physical, and/or other learning challenges.
LOCATION: Kummer/Little Recreation Center

BOWLING GREEN/WARREN COUNTY SPECIAL OLYMPICS 2ND ANNUAL GOLF SCRAMBLE

2nd Annual golf scramble to help benefit the Bowling Green/Warren County Special Olympics.
*Deadline to sign up for scramble is April 30. Registration forms are available.
DATE: TBA
TIME: 8:00 am shotgun start
FEE: $50 per person, $200 per team
LOCATION: Paul Walker Municipal Golf Course

3RD ANNUAL HOMERUN DERBY

3rd Annual City/County wide Homerun Derby to help benefit Bowling Green/Warren County Special Olympics.
*Homerun contest is on a points system. We ask for you to provide your own pitcher or one will be provided . ASA bats and balls will be provided. Great prizes to be given away. Registration on site.
DATE: TBA (will be in August)
TIME: 6:00-10:00pm
AGES: All
FEE: $5 for 10 pitches.
LOCATION: Lampkin Park
